Let's go down memory lane.... All the way to 2005! Before the BayWoof publication there was Woofer Times ... I did a front page feature article (not only did I take the photos, I had to write the words 😳). The article was an effort to break the stereotype, commonly held at the time, that shelter dogs were all mutts or mean street dogs. Back then, photos of shelter dogs were more like mug shots showing the bars of cages. I wanted to take portraits and portray the shelter dogs in a way that someone could imagine them as their pet (uncommon at the time).
Fifteen years later I'm so happy to see the growth of pet adoption. It takes a village; shelters, rescues, fosters and many volunteers (including photographers that help take beautiful adoption photos)
